Double your impact with our winter matching fund campaign!

Dr. Carvel Tiekert has once again generously pledged $50,000 in matching funds for our Winter Fundraising Campaign. He will match up to $25,000 of donations from pet owners, and up to $25,000 of donations from veterinarians, by December 31. We thank him for this wonderful chance to gain enough money to fund 3 new research projects next year!

You may not be aware of this, but one reason so many veterinarians do not use integrative holistic veterinary medicine is because we have all been trained to use published research before we try anything new. Research is done at universities, and by specialists, who carefully try out one thing at a time. But that takes a lot of time and a lot of money to do quality research. Big companies fund research if they can make money from it. We fund research if it will help sick animals.

Once it is done, the results must be published so that other veterinarians can see what is working. Thanks to generous donations in the past, there is published research showing how acupuncture can help horses suffering excruciating pain from founder. We have studies showing how useful acupuncture and Chinese herbal formulas can be for cancer. We have a study showing that little, teeny dogs need smaller doses of vaccine than a big dog. Other studies are still underway but there are promising results that can help dogs in animal shelters, dogs with anxiety,  cats with kidney disease, and much more.

People hear the word "cancer" and they often think all we have to do is find one miracle cure and we can cure all cancer. That is not true. Different types of cancer need different treatments. Different types of pets also need different treatments. So that means we will not solve the cancer problem until we have enough money to pay for many more studies.

Right now there is one cancer research project that we approved but that we still need money for. Dogs with hemangiosarcoma only live 2 months after their diagnosis. Even with conventional treatment they only live a few months more. But one cancer specialist has found a way treatment that gives them years to live, if started early enough. Nobody will believe this without the research to prove it. No companies will support it because it is not a drug.

THAT is the kind of research we support. THAT is what other veterinarians need to see and read about. When enough veterinarians

DONATE to help save dogs' and cats' lives.
Who know? You might help us find the answer for your own pet right too.
